Chenkulam Dam, Munnar

Chenakulam Dam or Sengulam dam or Chengalam dam  is a scenic dam located near Anakulam village and at the shortest distance to Munnar. It was built in 1957 across the Muthirapuzha river as a part of the Chengulam Hydro Electric Project. The dam and its surrounding areas are known for their peaceful beauty, with slopy green hills and dense forests that offer a peaceful retreat.

It is a popular tourist spot for various activities like boating of different styles namely pedal boats, rowboats and even motorboats, taking in the picturesque views of the lush landscape.  The waters of the reservoir are also home to various fish species, making it a good spot for fishing, and the surrounding environment attracts a variety of bird species.

How To Reach

Chenakulam dam is located at a distance of around 1.8 KM from the Anachal bus stop. You can take a local taxi or auto from the bus stand to reach the dam. Munnar bus stand is 14.7 KM away from the dam.
